CFO Bon Dep

A Norwegian brand adventure in more than 40 countries – and we’re looking for the CFO to shape our next chapter of growth
Bon Dep started at a kitchen table in Oslo in 2012. Since then, we’ve built KKNEKKI into one of Europe’s most recognisable hair accessory brands – loved by millions, worn by Erling Braut Haaland and sold in around 6,000 stores across more than 40 countries. We’re growing fast and profitably, with most of our sales outside Norway. We recently entered the US through retail partners, and we have ambitions to expand further into Asia.
Our next phase of growth raises the bar for our finance function. That’s why we’re creating the role of CFO: someone who will lead this development and use financial insight to drive better commercial decisions.
About the role
As CFO, you’ll join the management team, report to the CEO and hold overall responsibility for the company’s finances. Today, the finance function is a team of two, and you’ll work closely with experienced colleagues who handle accounting, consolidation, reporting and control day to day.
Your focus will be on taking our financial management to the next level and acting as a commercial thought partner to the management team – shaping how we finance, structure and prioritise our growth, and understanding where we actually make money.
You’ll thrive here if you enjoy switching between strategy and hands-on execution. You build models, lead bank meetings and find solutions when new markets bring new challenges. You work closely with colleagues and external advisers, and you keep things moving even when there’s no playbook to follow.
What you’ll be responsible for
Strategy and decision support
Acting as a commercial thought partner to the CEO and COO on strategic choices such as new markets, sourcing and pricing
Commercial assessments and analysis across the business
Budgeting, forecasting and board reporting, built on a single source of truth for management, the board and owners
International growth and financing
Financial and corporate structuring to support growth in both existing and new markets
Overall responsibility for payment solutions, VAT and tax in new markets – including a future direct-to-consumer offering through our website – working with external advisers where needed
Banking relationships, financing and covenants, as well as credit and factoring in new markets
Transfer pricing and intercompany matters, in collaboration with external tax advisers
Risk and capital
Managing currency, interest rate, credit and liquidity risk
Working with the COO to make sure product flow, purchasing and financing keep pace with growth, so we can always deliver to our customers
Building a finance function that scales
Developing the processes, systems and division of responsibilities that allow finance to handle higher volumes and greater complexity – with solutions that are commercially grounded and work for our customers
Advancing systems and automation, including AI, with a focus on business needs, control and quality
Making sure the team has the right skills and capacity – identifying gaps and new needs, and addressing them through development, recruitment or external support
Your first year
In your first year, your key priorities will be to:
Lay the foundation for continued profitable growth. Ensure that our financing, financial management and corporate structure support our ambitions in existing and new markets.
Make the finance function more scalable. Challenge how we work today and drive the changes needed to handle higher volumes and greater complexity – even if that means fundamental changes. Together with the team, you’ll build solutions that deliver stronger control, efficient operations and better support for the rest of the business.
Strengthen commercial decision support, with forecasts and analysis that give management a clear basis for setting priorities.
Who we’re looking for
You’ve led finance in a company before, and you care as much about customers and products as you do about the numbers.
You:
Have experience as a CFO or in a similar senior finance role, ideally in a growth company
Are used to rolling up your sleeves in an organisation with lean support functions
Understand the flow of goods – from purchasing and warehousing to retailers and consumers – and what it means for growth, profitability and capital needs
Have a solid grasp of financing and international corporate structures
Understand the key tax and VAT issues in international business and e-commerce, and know when to bring in specialist expertise
Build your own models and have a strong understanding of technology, particularly automation and AI
Hold a master’s degree in economics or finance, or equivalent
Speak and write fluent English
Experience from small or mid-sized companies with international operations is an advantage, ideally within brands, retail or e-commerce. We particularly value experience in commercial financial management, scaling finance functions and leading process and system change.
Experience setting up companies, banking relationships and payment solutions in the US or Asia is a strong plus.
You’re analytical and structured, with the gravitas to challenge established ways of working and the drive to see change through. You bring people with you and take ownership all the way from analysis to execution. You weigh every change against what it means for profitability, customers and day-to-day operations, and you know how to balance control, efficiency and flexibility.
Why Bon Dep?
Shape the finance function. You’ll have real freedom to develop the management, systems and ways of working that will power our international growth.
Real influence on strategy. You’ll play a key role in shaping the company’s growth journey.
Fast decision-making. We’re a team of around 20, backed by Øgreid as an active, long-term owner.
A product with a strong market position. A Norwegian brand with very high profitability and big ambitions for international growth.
